Why does gel polish change color: the causes of an unpleasant phenomenon
It seems that the manicure procedure was successful. The client was satisfied with the result. And if the client is satisfied, then the master, respectively, too. Everything would be fine, but only a week later the client calls and says that the gel polish has changed color. You ask yourself the question: why is this happening and how to avoid discoloration of the coating? Let's find out the reasons together.

CASES WHEN DARKENING OR BURNOUT OF GEL POLISH OCCURS DUE TO THE FAULT OF THE MASTER

1. Work with a low-quality product

If you use materials of dubious origin, then you need to be prepared for anything. Such gel varnishes, as a rule, have a low price and lack of certificates.
The coating from such bottles can not only darken, fade and become stained. There are cases of severe allergies and even chemical burns.

TIP: Always use high quality gel polishes and trusted brands.

2. Top (topcoats) without UV protection

Gel polish can fade in the sun. This is especially true of bright bed shades. But, world manufacturers have long been producing topcoats with ultraviolet protection.

3. Poor drying of the top (finish)

One of the functions of the top is to protect the entire coating from fading, chips and peeling. But if you do not completely dry it, then everything turns out the other way around. The top becomes cloudy, easily absorbs foreign pigments and does not protect the colored layer from sun exposure.

TIP: Make sure the topcoat is fully cured. Use quality timer lamps.

4. Special (aggressive) bases

Bases with high acidity can simply eat up the color. You should carefully choose the base in terms of composition, avoid options with a pungent smell. Also, the combination of materials from different manufacturers leads to a great risk that something will go wrong and the client will face a problem.

TIP: Always use high quality and proven brand databases. This can help you avoid unpleasant situations.

CASES WHEN DARKENING OR FADING OF GEL POLISH OCCURS DUE TO THE FAULT OF THE CLIENT

It seems that the master fulfills all the requirements, but incomprehensible things are still happening with the colored coating? The reason for the change in the color of the gel polish may be related to the lifestyle of the mistress of the manicure.

1. Burnout of gel polish from sunlight

Constant exposure to the scorching sun may not withstand even the highest quality gel polish and top.

2. Tanning products

Tanning products also have a negative effect on gel polish. Gel polish is a material, although strong, but rather porous. It is able to absorb some persistent pigments. But unlike the sun, self-tanning will darken the shade of the coating. Other products that negatively affect gel polish can also be: seasonings for cooking, highly pigmented foods (beets, berries, pomegranate), hair dye.

3. Detergents

Cleaning detergents can also affect the color of the gel polish. True, the chemical components in the composition of cleaning powders and gels not only destroy the pigment, but reduce the durability of the manicure and dry the skin of the hands.

TIP: In most cases, color change occurs in everyday life. Do not forget to warn your clients about the possible consequences of doing housework without gloves, and only work with high-quality materials yourself.
